CESARION DOING WELL IN AUSTRALIA. John Hart of Larbet Stud, Sydney, Australia, writes from that far-away corner of the earth that Cesarion is keeping up his reputation for siring winners there. Of his first lot of two-year-olds only one has started to race there. She is Ccsar-ionette and had won four out of her last five starts. "I sold three Cesarion colts at the yearling sales," Mr. Hart writes. "They realized a good average of ,585. They were out of the following mares: The Wheedler, by Positano Circe; Lilymea, by St. Leger Cecilia; and Buddah, by Mostyn Wilga. Conquistador and Cesarius, two of the lot of yearlings that Mr. I. II. Wheatcroft sent out here for sale, have done well. The former, by Cesarion Yolanda, has won seven out of his last eight starts, and is now the best horse racing in Queensland, and in the eighth he ran second. The latter is out of Merry Queen, and he has won two good races at Bandwick, one of them The Red Cross Handicap, one and a quarter miles, the feature race of the day, and several other races. The old horse looks more like a ten-year-old, showing no signs or wear, aiul this batch of foals are the finest and best developed lot I ever had on the place. My idea has always been that it is safer to trust an old horse that shows a wonderful constitution, by looking half his age. rather than trusting a young one that has it all to prove, and this lot of foals seems to me to prove it." Mr. Wheatcroft, when he sold Cesarion to Mr. Hart, retained the right io send four mares to Cesarion for four years, which he has always availed himself of, and this arrangement has just been completed.
