A particularly well devised card was the offering before the largest mid-week crowd of the season at Havre de Grace. The majority of the finishes were of the stirring -order and closely contested. Queen of the Water proved her worth by defeating good opposition in the two-year-old race, which was the nearest ap- i:-oach to a feature. She sprinted into a long lead before a half mile had been covered, was never fully extended at any time and was returned the winner by a good margin. Warsaw was second after overcoming the handicap of early interference and held the tiring Top o the Wave safe in the final drive. Goldcrest Boy beat a good band of platers at one mile and seventy yards, winning in an easy maimer from St. Charlcote, which set the pace and tired rapidly in the stretch. Piillux showed a return to his best form when hi; defeated Sipieeler. The latter made the early running but hail to give way to the Whalen gelding when the hitter challenged in the last eighth. Murphy gave battle for five eighths then retired but managed to hold third place. Oscar Lewisohn Mas among the visitors and witnessed the running of his imported horse licnevo-lent. 11. G. P.edwell bought Maxims Choice, winner of the last race, for 00 which was 00 over his entered price. Judge C. J. Fits! Gerald leaves for Avon, X. Y., tonight, where he will judge at the Livingston County Fair thirteen classes of horses, among them weanlings, yearlings and two-year-olds by the Jockey Clubs breeding liureau stallions.
