THAT TROUBLE BREWING IN CANADA. Toronto, Out.. September 28. Canada seems on the eve of a turf war and the outlook at present , js decidedly stormy. The other associations issued a warning to the horsemen against racing at the , jicw Devonshire Park course at AVindsor and some ; of the horsemen have taken affront at this ruling ; and look upon it as an outlaw threat. The Canadian branch of the Thoroughbred Horse , Association held a general meeting at the King Edward hotel tonight and the matter was gone into , and discussed. There are many of the members wlto think that the heads of the different racing clubs in Ontario should have consulted with the ; executive committee of the Horsemens Association and asked for their co-operation before sending . out the "outlaw" ruling. However, a big . majority of the horsemen are of the opinion that there are enough race tracks in Canada and that I if additional ones are constructed it will result in , adverse legislation. There are some who think that the Devonshire Park people should have been notified of the contemplated action before they began the construction . of their plant. The racing associations up , here were undoubtedly of the opinion that the . government, realizing that the racing field was pretty well covered in Ontario, would refuse to , grant a license to the Devonshire track. This was only natural considering all of the adverse talk to , be heard at Ottawa and Montreal against racing : just now. Had the license been refused of course there would have been no eleventh hour ruling. Some of the more sensitive memlwrs of the Horsemens Association, have taken affront at the outlaw - ruling and appear determined to stick to the i! Devonshire Park people. A carload of horses left t for Windsor last night and included in the consignment - were the stables of Grant Hugh Browne, , C. N. Freeman, and 1. J. Miles.
