MAY RACE EVERY DAY AT HAVANA. Plan to Have Only Three Days Weekly Prior to Christmas May Be Dropped. Baltimore, Md., November 10. H. D. Brown, the moving spirit in the Cuba-American Jockey Club, spent Saturday at Pimlico, conferring with the horsemen, getting their views and advising them of his plans for the coming meeting to lie given at the beautiful Oriental Park course, at Mnrianao, Cuba. Mr. Brown was accompanied to Pimlico by his able assistant, James Milton, and both were as busy as bees during the afternoon, assigning stalls to some, instructing others as to the best way to ship, listening to suggestions from the horsemen and arranging for the reception of the big contingent that will head toward Cuba. Mr. Brown had not been at the course an hour before he announced that it was almost a certainty that racing would be held daily right from the start, instead of waiting until Christmas day, when the regular season was scheduled to begin. This means that instead of eighty-three days racing, the meeting will run close to 100 days. This naturally was encouraging news for the horsemen. There is no question but that Havana is destined to become a great winter racing point, if it is not spoiled by unscrupulous promoters. The preliminary work done during the first two meetings at Oriental Park is bringing fortli encouraging results. Several wealthy Cubans have lately gone into racing on rather a substantial scale, and inquiries are being made almost every day by other ricli Cubans as to available material for racing purposes. Senor Bensabat, who made several trips to the United States during the summer, and who is an ardent sportsman, is one of the latest to make known his intention of purchasing a string of thoroughbreds. While at Pimlico he commissioned John W. Pangle to be on the lookout for some good horses and, if they can lie secured at a reasonable figure. Pangle will select about a dozen. Senor Bensabat is one of the foremost brokers of the island and is well up on thoroughbred racing. Joseph Marrone is the latest horseman to announce an intention of shipping his string from here to Havana. There are a dozen horses in the Marrone stable, and among them are some real good racers. J. J. Lillis, Wooden Shoes, Ambrose and Sam Mc-Meekin are among those in this stable. Henry J. Morris lias instructed his trainer, Frank A. Herold, to prepare to ship Armament, Yodeles and others iu his stable to Havana, and Congressman C. 1. Sullivan will send the two-year-old imported Sargon II. in Herolds care. Mr. Morris is one of tlie stewards of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association and is an ardent admirer of the thoroughbred. The Cuba-American Jockey Club lias decided to feature two-year-old races at its meeting. These races have been put on at tlie request of the horsemen. It is possible that J. O. Talbott will take the bawl of yearlings lie purchased a few days back from Harry Payne Whitney to Cuba. Talbott lias twelve youngsters iu his stable, some of them brothers and sisters to high-class horses. G. AV. J. Bissell is another horseman who will take some youngsters to Cuba. They are said to be an extra good-looking band, and among them is a brother to Cadillac, a colt that showed such good form at Oriental Park last winter, and won a day or two ago at Pimlico. On the Monday following tlie close of tlie recent meeting at Devonshire Park, Windsor, a special train departed for Havana, made up of ten seventy-foot express cars. There were 155 horses in the consignment, and they were billed direct to Oriental Park. This special was made up of horses owned by the following: A. D. Worley, J. T. West. W. Dauphine, J. Hope, J. Everest, R. D. Carter, J. S. Baldwin. P. F. Gloss, J. Delaney, A. Castin. .7. H. Moody, W. F. King, F. J. Kearns, C. E. Brosius, C. E. Rowe, B. Mock, A. B. Stelle, II. Van Ry, Dr. R. Hanley, J. W. Jones, J. OConnor, T. Carroll, W. Elliott, M. Buck, W. Short, T. Fowler, T. Cutn-mings, G. J. Day, P. Stire, H. C. Airhart. William Walker, T. J. Harmon, N. Oddo, J. J. Russell, S. Miodow, W. Hickman, George Foley, P. Hinpliy, V. J. link. Padget and Ashe. J. Linn, J. Eckert. R. V. Haymaker. J. L. Bryan, G. Fraley. J. S. Whatley, W. C. Drogan. J. B. Goodman and R. 0. Scully.
