SORRENTO LOST IN HITCHCOCK FIRE. New York, November 25. The fire that occurred on the Thomas Hitchcock place Wednesday night did more damage than was at first supposed. The family were entertaining guests, and when the cry of fire was raised they at once ran to the stable and started, saving their hunters and racers, each one of which is a pet. All the fimily rushed in and managed to get out some of the hunters and racers. Those saved were Jolly Dixon, Calvinist. Brent, wood, Welsh Queen, Ormes Head and Sorrel, all of which have Avon niany ribbons during the past year in the Long Island show rings. It was thought that Sorrento, the fast steeplechaser, had got out and gone out in the lot, but Avhen a searcli AAas made for him he could not be found, and the ruius disclosed his bones. The thoroughbred had not been reached, and those getting the hunters thought he A-as in the field, and he perished. In addition to the largu stable, the coach bum was destroyed, making a loss of nearly 0,000.
