JOSEPH. E. SEAGRAMS KINGS TLATERS. Seven Candidates Named for This Years Running — Prospects for Successful Season Excellent. Joseph E. Seagram will again be r present! d in the Kings Plate this year witli a strong band of three-year-olds. Seven nominations will lie made to the race for the guineas, and on the form displayed by the candidates as two-year-olds hist season the local entry will surely rule favorite on race day, says a Waterloo writer in the Threats Star. The entire band are wintering in good shape, and are already receiving daily exercise on a straw track in the big paddock on the farm. The Plat rs, with their breeding, are as follows: Sturdee. b. c. 3. by Havoc Kate Kitflebnrv. Galley Head. blk. c. 3. by Oalatin -Fairlie Head. Belle Mahone, b. f. ." . by Ypsilanti II.— Irish Lass II. .old Galore, b. f. 3. by Galatin — Cruche dOr. Jala Dress, ch. f. 3. by Galatin — Court Maid II. Statim. b. f. 3. by Havoc -At Once. Tea Cup. b. f. 3. by Ypsilanti II. — Chinca. Sturdee has the best credentials of the lot. He has three victories to his credit, and was placed on two other occasions out sf seven trips to the barrier. Galley Head won two of his four races, and has never been unpla-ed. This pair are most favored for the long 1 1-1 n:i:es journey in the Plate. Both have grown into fine looking, big col.s. and they are always more reliable than fillies early in the spring at racing over a route. Gold Galore and Belle Mahone have also raced well. The former won two of her three races. Belie Mahone earned brackets once, but was three times second in six starts, which is a creditable record. Hals Dress won one of her four attempts and WSJ twice placed. Her victory was a sparkling performance in the Windsor Double Event, in Which she displayed gaBteaesS Bad staying qualities. Stable Again Formidable. Statim and Tea Cup each won a race, but in less ambitious company than the others. That tin- black jacket and yellow sash is going to lie again formidable in the race for the kings guineas and the other events for homo-breds this year seems assured. Dolor, the Ypsilanti II.— Dolores filly. Ladies Aid. by HaVOC Church Belle, and Maid of Somerset, by ialatine — Frome. all three-year-olds, are also eligible for the Plate, but there were not raced last year and will probably be sold along with Torn Silk and Charon. The sped division of the stable includes; SmitMi"|,|. br. g. 5. bj IISTOC Mailvnl 111. 1hilistine. ch. g. 4. by Samson Flower. Mandarin, ch. e, 4. by Havoc— Boyal China. He has not 1» en taken up yet. but an effort will be made to sa train him again. Sweet Colleen, the Maple Leaf Jar stake winner, also bowed a tendon last season. She has been retired for breeding purposes, sir I.aiince-lol and Dehaven have been disposed of. The two-year-olds number only six this season. They are: Gaelic Lass. ch. f. 2. bv Balattae Irish Lass. RheiaaS, b. f. 2. by Havoc— Church Belle. Sea Froth, cli. f. 2. by Inferno— Sea Will. Tw lvo Bells, b. f. 2, by Inferno- Bride l.ane. Scvthioa. br. o. 2. by inferno—- Irish Witch. Faded Glory, b. f. 2. by Oalatini — Satanic. Gaelic Lass is a half-sister to Sweet Colleen and Belle Mahone. and is one of the best lookers in the party. Pes Froth and Twelve Bells a re also teed looking youngsters, and Scythian is a fine, big colt. In fact, they are all fair-sized, but they have not shown up as well in their trials as the Seagram youngsters have been doing of late. The stable is well fortified in the baby division for next rear. The yearlings number twelve, and nine of the lot are colts. Three are by KoekviUe and nine by Ialatine. No foals have yet arrived.
