FIFTY-ONE SIRES REPRESENTED IN DERBY. Ballot Has Seven Colts Among Nominations for This Years Big Stake Race. Xew York. March 12. — Of the seventy-six eligibles to the Kentucky Derby, fifty-one sires are represented, of which nineteen are foreign bred. Ballot heads the list with seven of his colts -Ballad. Breeze, Bribed Voter, Buford, Ticket. Top o the Wave and Midway. This is the first time this young sin- has been represented in the Derby and the showing he makes is exceedingly creditable. Star Shoot conies next with five colts. They are Ivory Black. Star Master. Star Oazer, Defease and Star Finch. Star Shoot headed the list of winning sires for MM. However, he has never furnished a Kentucky Derby winner. Sunstar. the English sire, has four representa trees in All Star. North Star, War Star and Hollister. Broomstick, which has already applied two Kentucky Derby winners in Meridian 1911 and Regret 1915 has two colts in this years race. Rickety and Cudg 1. The Irish sire. Tredinnis, also has two — Trevisco. owned by K. D. Alexander of Lexington. Ky.. and Bachelors Hope, belonging to C. K. 9. Billings and Fred Johnson. Peep oDay and Dick Finnell have three each. The former is represented by George C. I.oe. Crack oDay and Milkman, while the latter claims Al M. Dick. Westy Hogan and Diamond. Waterboy. Superman. Ogden. Hadium and All Qold have two each. WaterlHiy — The Knocker and Waterford: Superman — Aeabado and Friendless: Og-den Monotony and Waukeag; Hadium — Butterscotch II. and Torchbearer: All Gold— Tumbler and Bullion. Mighty Colin Has One Representative. The following American sires have but one represent, ition in the list of eligibles. Iltimus. the sire • .I Harry Kelly: Tony Doners, Handsel. Colin. Disguise. Hen Brush. Celt. McOee. Sain. Tisldingtoii. Alvoscot. Transvaal. Peter Quince. King Olympian. Dr. Lento, Jack Atkin. Dalhousie. Helmet. Plaudit. Burgomaster. Hamburg. The Commoner. Duke of Ormonde. Jim Oaffney. Other foreign bred sires are: Hoquelaure. Polymelia. Marco. Santoi. Meddler. Amadis, CVers, Aquascctum, The White Knight. Santry. Banflowet II.. St. Amaiit. Uangibbjr, Persia, CrUtel and Arc tie Iriomi he. These have one representative each. Of tin1 living -ins Broomstick i.-. the only one to supply more than one Derby winner. McOeo had on.- in Donerail. which won the stake in 1913. Mr-Oee this year has but one representative in Old Ey-lers. Inch-, sire of Old Bosebiul. winner of the Derby in 1914. has no representation this year. Neither has Out of Reach, sire of Qcsrge Smith, last years winni r. Dick Welles, sire of Winter-green, winner of the race in 1909. is also without representation this year. Since 1S75. the first year the Derby was run. Virgil and Falsetto are the only sires to claim three Derbv winners. Virgil sired Vagrant winner in 1S70. Hindoo 1881, and Hen Ali 1KSIS. Falsetto sired Chant 1S94. His Eminim nee 1881 and Sir Huon 1868, all Derby winners in the years named. King Alfonso and Longfellow are each credited with two winners.
