NEW TAX LAW WILL NOT INTERFERE. Mutael Machines Will Be Given Trial at Maison-neuve Track Near Montreal This Year. By Ed Cole. New York. March 12.— William M. Murray, principal stockholder in the Maisonneuve track. Montreal, is in the city on a visit, seems to b» confident that the new tax laws for race courses in Quebec will not interfere with the sport in anyway. On the contrary, he believes racing should improve under the conditions. "I am going to get ten or twelve machines for Maisonneuve and feel mortally sure that the institution will make expenses and possibly a trifle more." said Mr. Murray. "The attendance at Dor-val and Bine Bonnets is sufficient guarantee that the public likes the mutui 1 system of speculation. and there is little question about the half-mile tracks being well patronized.
