PARI-MUTUELS TRIED OUT AT HAVANA. System U.rd Exclusively Yesterday and Results Proved Satisfactory — Interesting Racing. Havana. Cuba. March 12. — The pari-mutuel system of speculation was us d exclusively at Oriental Park this afternoon. It was an extra days racing given by the Cuba -American Jockey Club to try out this system and the results proved satisfactory. Despite the fact that it was an off day. a fair sized crowd was in attendance and speculation was keen. A majority of the winners paid handsome dniilends and the public appeared pleased. The track conditions were good. Interesting racing was in order. The fil ly Sabl" scored another easy victory, when she cantered home an easy winner in the second race. Sable changed owners after her victory, J. W. Hedrick claiming her for . Jockey Petz rode his fifth winner, when lie won the fourth race with Brown Baby, and this forced him to pick ap three poatlda on Hattie Burton in the closing race. The latter also won, beating Glanaginty a length. Senar A. I."z:m;i has purchased the contract that the Quincy Stahle held on jockey Ball ami the latter will ride the division of the Lezaina stable that M. Daly will handle on the Maryland tracks. Joekc y Ambrose left for Memphis, Tcnn.. to visit his people b"fore reaortbnr, to bis employer, Willi- Bbarpe Kilmer, at Binghamton. N. Y. J. W. Hedrick also claimed Glanaginty after the latter finished second to Hattie Burton iu the closing race. It cost him ITS.
