CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Fifteen foals have arrived at the New Jersev stud of II. P. Whitney. O. J. Bussey has turned over the contract he held on jockey Alt to Bob Kelly. During the first hundred days of the Tijuana meeting over £250.000 was distributed in stakes and panes. O. W. Wingfieid has about decided to retire his two fillies Minnow and Oladiola to tin? stud at his Nevada Stock Farm. Trainer James Howe denies that II. P. Whitney is dickering for T. Mclaggarts services, having Frank Robinson signed up. Jockey Hoscoe Tr.ixler recently underwent an operation on his nose, which was injured when Troxler fell in a race at Salt Lake several years ago. Carroll Shilling, one of the greatest of our later-day riders, is often seen in the saddle at Tijuana, trying out his two-year-old and exercising his older horses. The book for the Bowie mei ting may have to be revised in spots, owing to the possibility of misin terpretation of some of the conditions which could be eon. trued as being in discord with Jockey Club rales. One clause in particular occurs in the claiming races, which reads: "Plus the value of the iiure." instead of "the winners share of the parse." The Bowie association will be, if not already, advised of the errors at issue. The supply of horses suitable for army purposes is rin.ning low in this country, so heavy has beeu the drain on our resources to supply the warring nations in Europe. Hast week at the National Stock Yards in East St. Louis, difficulty was e perienced by dealers filling contracts for the allies. One contract for 20.000 animals placed by the French government thro. weeks ago, Is. 000 are still to be obtained and the Italians and English are not getting mar as many horses as they want. The Belgians have been out of the market ngratal mouths.
