CLOSE TO ONE HUNDRED NOMINATIONS. Good Entry for Twelve Events in Two-Day Meeting of Rockaway Hunting Club. New York. April 20. — Entries closed for the annual hunter and ixuiy races of the Rockawav Hunting Club, to be held at Hewlett Pay Park. Long Island, on Saturday next and Map 5. With almost an even hundred nominations for the twelve races on the program for the two day meeting. Six of ▲ these will lie run at the initial meeting on Saturday. V and include steeplechases, races for hunters over IHist and rails, and dashes on the flat. Not only in quantity, but in quality as well, the list of entries for the opening meeting of the season here is catise for gratification among those who are striving to keep thoroughbred raring going despite the war. and included arc Major-Ceneral Leonard Wood and many other army officers. Schwartz. Oscar Lewisohn. J. H. Collins. John Tucker. West Hills Stable. John L. Coyle. Miss A. M. Frayling. M. 1. Bamberger. N. L. Tilney. F. It. Voss. Morton L. Schwartz. North Wood Stable. Thomas Council, Jf, J. Clothier, A. Ludlow Kramer and Walter J. Salmon. Practically all of the gentlemen riders who take part in these amateur race meetings will sport colors at Hewletts when the curtain goes up for the thoroughbred season. A conspicuous feature of the entries for the Pickaway Hunting Clubs races is the large number of new horses in the amateur hands, horses which have not previously raced at Hewlett Pay Park or which are making their debut t!ii~ ■easaa. Every entry in the fifth race on Saturday is ■ newcomer at this course, including M. L. Schwartz Flotsam II.. and Silent Pilot, possibly the pick of last seasons three -year-olds; C. H. Robbins* Bridget OConnor. J. F. Flanagans Allan Bain and Miss Fraylings King Cash. Seven out of the twelve entries in the sixth race are also newcomers to Hewlett. These are P. L. Allies Little Nearer, Oscar Lewisohns Lady Edwina. Thomas lurse-houses Santa Fe. Rufus C. Pinchs Cabaret. John Tuckers Solar Star, N. L. Tilueys Toynliee and Flotsam II. and Silent Pilot.
