PIEDRA began clear of interference and. after having raced forwardly from the start, swerved out in the homestretch, but finished gamely under punishment and got up in the final strides. JIM HEFFERING displayed the most early speed and held on gamely when the linal drive came. RON TROMP was in close mart*** in tin- homestretch and ran green, but finished well. AFRICAN RROW finished gamely. CHARLIE LEVDECKER and MISS SANFARA were crowded back early. PAYMENT was away badly and not persevered with. Scratched Game Cock. 115. DISTANT SHORE was under stout restraint in the early running and moved up rapidly in the final half mile, but tired after getting to the leader at tin lin.il fence. THE CARMET closed up steadily and finished gamely under punishment. .11 I.IK T made a poof landing at the last jump and ran a good race. The latter passed RICHARD LANGDON at the quarter iwst and drew away, but could not withstand the winners rush. MINDA had a rough race in the early running and came fast when clear.
