A. JOCKEY REDFERN CRITICALLY INJURED. New York. May 5.— Arthur Rcdfern, thirty-nine years old, at one time one of the most prominent riders on the American turf, probably was critically injured in an automobile accident here today when his car overturned. His wife, also thrown under the machine, esca: ed with slight injuries. John Mackey once bid 0,000 for Redferns service. The offer was made to Col. James E. Pepper, who "discovered" him and brought him to New York from Detroit. At various times Redfern was in the employ of James R. Keene, E. B. Thomas and William 0. Whitney.
