►j, _ 4. WHAT THE MANY CANDIDATES FOR KENTUCKY DERBY HONORS DID IN THE RACING OF LAST YEAR + — + At present the Kentucky Derby looms large and important in the minds of people who are interested in the nol.l" apart of raciag. There is sound reason for this. The great majority of the best two-year-olds of 1010 hare heea nominated to strive for its honors. All reports make it out that almost without exception all have trained healthily and to the sal isf ail ion of their controllers, the percentage ailing or found wanting in speed being singularly small. This and other oontrihut ing factors seem to indicate the largest tiehl in tie- history of the race. In New York recently M. .1. Winn was mated as saying that he would not be surprised if there were fifteen starters. This was conservative and may be verified by the fact. Hut he might hare gone farther and said he would net be surprised to see twenty-live go to the post. Results at Lextogtaa may discourage son,:- oaraera, but the present outlook seems to indicate that twenty or more will go to the post. North Star HI.. Ilollister. Star Master. Harry Kelly. Trevisco. Sol GUsey. Greea .1 s. Oaaar Khayyam, kfanfarter Toi. King Herod. .lack Mount. Acabado., Skeptic. Peter .lay. Kenward. Milkman. Gay Fortune. Ticket. Atwell. Midway. Cudgel. Tumbler. Rickety, Westy Hogaa and Berlla compose the brilliant band that may go in the post, to say nothing of those whose owners may start them simply to see their colors in the race. There is one good colt in the east from which nothing has been heard, yet if .lames Dutler should annov.iHC that Ivory I.lack is to be a starter that licet half brother to Old Rosebud would at once come in for qalte respectful consideration. By the record there was no better two-year-old out last year. The tabulation here presented details in compact form what all the Kentucky Derby candidates did in racing last year, if anything. It is timely, in view of the close proximity of the race and the facts set out are commended to the consideration of Daily Racing Forms readers: Horse. Col.. Sex. Age. Pedigree. Owner.
