READY FOR OPENING AT DEVONSHIRE. Hcixes Arrive Daily for First of Canadian Meetings Beginning Next Saturday, May 12. Windsor. Out. May .",. — When the spring meeling at Devonshire Iark couini: uces on Saturla.. May 12, for the gathering of seven days, the plant will show marked improvement over the meetings held last autumn. Several changes have been made in the betting enclosure, while there will be a greater number of machines in epacatfoa. The horses continue to arrive daily, so that there will be no scarcity or racing mate rial or riders for the opening of the rat ing in Canada. The Iwwk has met with the general approval of the owners of not only the smaller stables, but those of the larger strings. The officials will arrive in Windsor on Monday of next week, when they will put things in readiness for the opening. The officials this spring will be practically the same as at the second meeting last autumn. Eddie Tribe, who was so successful at the barrier, will again do the starting. The directors and staff from the Montreal office are clue to ar rive today. The equipment to be used at the plant this season will be new and of the most up-to-date style. The track is in splendid condition, as is shown bv the work outs of the horses now stabled at the course. There are over two hundred horses at Devonshire Park ready to race, while others are due to arrive from Baltimore and points in Canada early next week. Two special trains will come in the end of the week from Lexington. Thomas J. Duggan, who controls the majority of slock, will arrive next Tuesday. Mr. Duggan was unable to attend either of the meetings a year ago, owing to ill health. Frank M. Sullivan, who was appointed manager last winter, is making every effort to cater to the wants of the horsemen and has granted ail of their recent requests.
