HELEN BARBEE GAINS A NEW OWNER. Lexington, Ky., July 5. J. D. Adkins came over from Latonia this morning for the purpose of seeing his mares and foals at Beaumont Farm and, while they were looking them over together, Hal Price Headley bought the good mare Helen Barbee from him. Helen Barbee was bred to Uncle in April. Starter Harry Morrissey and pari-mntuel supervisor John B. McLaughlin returned to their homes here tills morning. Morrissey will rest until the opening at Chicago. McLaughlin will go to Canada in a few flays. J. O. Keene, who is at Grand Rapids, wired a friend here as follows: "Meeting opening here with big crowd of high-class people. Plenty of horses, good racing and everything up to date. Looks like a go in every way. The whole atmosphere has a sporting tinge that augurs well for the future of racing in Michigan."
