PROPOSED RACE MEETING FOR CHICAGO. Hawthorne Track Likely to Have Thirty Days Sport Beginning July 28 Next. Unless something unexpected intervenes, it is more than probable that Chicago will have about thirty days of racing this year under good auspices. Hawthorne will be the scene and the racing will probably begin Saturday, July 28 and extend through the week days of August. This will be a favorable time, for the reason that as matters turfwise now stand, the Saratoga track is the only one scheduled to conduct racing in that month. It is obvious that the track can only accommodate a part of the many horses now in training, so there will be an abundant provision of good racers for the proposed local meeting. At this time details are being worked out and will be ready for announcement within a few days. The appointments of the Hawthorne track, having been furbished up last year, are in fair condition nnd can be made ready to entertain and provide for turf patrons by the time named. When arrangements are definitely concluded, it will be found that a corps of the most efficient and vigilant officials in this land has been engaged to supervise and govern the sport. . It is likely that Joseph A. Murphy may bo presiding judge, J. B. Campbell, secretary, and Harry Morrissey, starter.
