IDEAL RACING CONDITIONS Perfect Weather and Good Track Help Sport at Oriental Park. 4 Fields of Ordinary Calibre Furnish Good Entertainment Lunsford Riding Well. Havana, Cuba, December 27. Interesting contests were the order of the day :it the Oriental Park course tills afternoon. Racing was held under jdeal conditions, the weather being perfect and- the track in good condition. The fields were of ordinary calibre and well bucked horses won a majority of the races. The layers bad none the best of the afternoons betting. The outstanding incident of the day was the defeat of Ed Garrison, the favorite in the fourth race. Getting away to a good start, Ed Garrison quickly rushed into the lead and set a fast pace and appeared to have the race at his mercy. How-over, he tired badly in the stretch and succumbed to the fast closing rush of Circulate. The latter, ipioted at 10 to 1 in the betting, was kept in a contending position from the start and when called on in the stretch, responded in game fashion and won drawing away. From a racing standpoint the best race of the day was the fifth. The finish was of the sensational order and the victory of Merry Jubilee proved exceedingly popular with race-goers. The mure was away in a rear position and was forced to go to the outside, where she closed up steadily and, displaying a high order of speed, came witli n terrific rush in the final eighth and passed the favorite, Wavering, in the last few strides. It was one of the best finishes seen at this track since the meeting opened. Elizabeth Lee ran an excellent nice in the opening flush.. She was away with the. rise of the barrier, forced a fast pace and, although closely pressed by Dora Collins in the early running, drew away and won finite comfortably at the end. The second race proved easy for Ischgabibble, which had no opposition after disposing of Sleeper ill the final half. Sybil was an odds-on choice in the third and her superiority over her opponents was plainly seen after the early leaders besan to tiro from their efforts to outdistance her. Sybil drew away into a big lead when called on in the last eighth. Jockey Lunsfords winning mount, Sybil, was the fifth he has scored at this meeting, which took three pounds off his apprentice allowance, this accounting for his taking up three pounds on Lady Jane Grey and Bright Sand. ,
