While he is away he will visit the Laurel track, of which he is manager, with a view of deciding upon some needed improvements to that course. Just "what these are he was not in a position to state. He will also visit New York and other eastern cities and expects to return to Louisville in time to attend the meeting of horsemen and breeders called for the purpose of formulating plans for the raising of the amount pledged to the Red Cross, which is scheduled to be held in Lexington January 5. Refore leaving here. Colonel Winn gave it as his opinion that the closing time of the Churchill Downs spring stakes next year would be one nionth later than last spring, when the entries closed February 1. This matter, however, will not be decided upon until his return. The big barn at Churchill Downs just vacated by the stable of J. W. Corrigan, and which is considered one of the best of its kind in the country, lias been assigned to AVillis Sharpe Kilmer, whose extensive stable in charge of trainer Henry McDaniel is due to arrive from Riughamton. N. Y., January 15. The latest reports are that McDaniel will bring the entire Kilmer stable, including thirty yearlings, and the crack two-year-old Sun Rriar, a prospective candidate for the Kentucky Derby. The handsome bungalow adjoining the barn, and at ipresent under lease to Mr. Corrigan. will in all probability be taken over by trainer McDaniel. "Doc" Foucon. employed for many years by Hart Newman, on his breeding farm at Sweetwater, Tex., and who broke and trained the good mare Pan Zareta tr to the time ulte was sold to E. T. Colton last spring, is now employed in the stable of Jefferson Livingston at Douglas Park. Foucon had a warm affection for Pan Zareta. and it almost broke his heart when Newman let her go to another owner.
