A.B.SPRECKELS BAND OF YOUNGSTERS California Turfman Has Eleven Two-Year-Olds at Churchill Downs in Charge of Trainer Carroll. Louisville. Ky.. April 15. — After an absence from tlie Kentucky tracks extending over a period of five years tli" colors of A. B. Spreckels. the California turfman, are to be carried on the local tracks this spring- Trainer C. W. Carroll, who had charge of the Spreckels horses the last time they were here, has just arrived at Churchill Downs from Coronudo. Ca!.. bringing with him eleven two-year-olds, all the product of the Spreckels Napa Stock Farm, and the five-year-old mare Nezlb. The youngsters have lieen in training since the first of the year, but are l.ot as far advanced as the two-year-olds that have been here all winter. AH the youngsters in Mr. Carrolls care have been named, their owner, as lias been his custom, having •elected rather odd nomenclature for them. Six of the numltcr are by Voorhecs. while four are by Dr. l. eggo. The remaining one is by Salvation. Before leaving Corouado trainer Carroll shipped ten two-year-olds, all by Salvation, to the Spreckels farm to lie turned out.
