HAVANA RACES RUN IN THE RAIN Sparkler Proves He Can Run as Well in Heavy Going as Over a Fast Track. HAVANA. Cuba, February 7. Rain fell steadily during most of the afternoon and mud runners were in their element at the tlriental Park race track. Woodman Bros. Sparkler, vyhich has been running well over dry tracks, prftVid that he is equally at home in the heavy going and caused a mild surprise by beating Fort Bliss, Raf ferty and others in the fifth race, a sprint at five und a half furlongs. Sparkler was away in front, opened up a big lend, in the backstretch and was ridden out to win by n length from Fort Bliss. A. II.
