JORDAN RIVER FISHES WHICH WALK Writing to Australia from the Holy Land, the Rev. J. Best of St. Johns Church of England, Bal-larat. who has been with the troops as a chaplaip for about three years, refers" to an interesting fishing excursion at the River Jprdan. He says: "We caught some queer fish. I had two about eighteen inches long in a canvas bucket one night and they walked back between 150 and 200 yards to the river. They-have the aspect of flathcad, with two big feelers on the bottom jaw, two more on the top jaw and then a fifth hanging over in front. They have big bony places where the front fins attach, and by a waddling motion walk on these. They cm live out of water for hours. The- flesh is unlike most fish, being full of blood, and when cooked is dark like meat."
