ASCETIC SILVERS NARROW ESCAPE Ascetic Silver, Prince Hatzfcldts great English steeplechaser, which won the Grand National of 1901!, came near meeting a violent death before his greatness was achieved. One day at exercise he got cast in a ditch, and the idea of those who saw the accident was that he had broken his back.
