NEIL GOWS BEST ACHIEVEMENTS Lord Roseberys Neil Gow. by Marco Chelandry, which recently died in England, did some notable racing as a three-year-old, after winning four cut of six races and 3,530 as a two-year-old in 1909. lie came out in the early summer of 1910, and first gave three pounds and an easy beating to speedy Whisk Rroom and four others in the Craven Stakes over the Rowley mile, and a fortnight later confirmed liis Doncaster form with Lemberg by defeating him a short head for the Two Thousand Guineas, the struggle being a most thrilling one. The Derby was the next engagement he took part in, but a few days before the contest Neil Gow sprang a slight curb, and although he went to the post he was unable to show his proper form and could only finish fourth to Lemberg. which beat Greenback a neck, with Charles OMalley another two lengths away third. Lord Roseberys colt, however, was quite himself again when he came out for the Eclipse Stakes, wherein, after one of the most exciting and remarkable races, Neil Gow, on even terms, ran a dead-beat with his old opponent Lemberg. and the stakes were divided. During his preparation for the St. Leger Neil Gow went wrong on both his back tendons in August and retired from the turf after having earned his owner 09,930. in stakes during his somewhat brief but strenuous racing career.
