STAR RACERS ON THE WAY Sir Barton and Boniface Expected at Windsor Today Hurried Trip for Exterminator. DETROIT, Mich.. August 19. Sir Barton and Boniface, J. K. L. Ross candidates for the Windsor Jockey Club Handicap, to be run Saturday, the opening day of the meeting across the riyer, are expected to arrived at Windsor on Friday morning. Exterminator, Willis Sharpe Kilmers entry for the 0,000 stake, will be shipped from Saratoga Friday and will arrive on the morning of the day of the nice. It will be a hustling; trip for the. Kilmer horse as well as the Ross stars, as the Irlo will be reshipped back to Saratoga after the Windsor race in order that Sir Barton and Exterminator will have a rest before the decision of the Saratoga Cup. The improved class of Canadian horses the last few years, due to the "encouragement accorded the breeding industry in the Dominion, will Ik; noticeable in the races exclusively for "home breds" during he coming meeting. Provided the track is fast on the day of the race, the Ontario Handicap should result in a fast liiile, with such horses as Mallowmot. An amount surpassing 5,000 will be distributed among Canadian owners during Hie meeting, including the ,000 in added money In the Canadian Handicap. The officials at the second .summer meeting of the Windsor Jockey Club will be the same as officiated at the July meeting. Charles F. Price will he the presiding steward, and the judges will embrace J. B. Campbell, F. W. Gerhardy and D. S. Gillies. James Milton will officiate at the barrier and W. 1. Fraser will be associate steward. Canadian money will he the medium of exchange in the mutuels. It behooves lhose with American money, in order to avoid delay and congestion, to exchange their American money for Canadian currency before leaving for the track. This may be done through any of the Detroit banks. The death of Otto Stiefel of St. Louis is lamented by his many friends in Detroit. Mr. Stiefel was a wealthy brewer and sportsman In the Mound City and was a regular visitor to the Windsor meetings in past years. Ho was the principal owner of tin? Gambrinus Stable, which formerly contained many stake horses that were frequent winners. He was for several years associated with Johu Scliorr, the Memphis turfman.
