FINAL DAY AT DEVONSHIRE Breeze Defeats Bondage in ,000 Farewell Feature Meeting Huge Success in Every Respect. AVINDSOR. Ontario, September 8. Aftor disposing of Regnlo while rounding the far. turn, Mrs. G. II. Abbots Breeze lasted long enough to beat Bondage :: head in the 000 Crawford House Handicap, the feature of the closing days racing at Devonshire Park this afternoon. It was a stirring finish and the Arthur representative was rapidly overhauling the winner at the end. Jouett, a keen factor in the early stages, was third, three lengths away. Closing with a brilliant rush in the stretch. Irish Jig defeated a good band of two-year-olds in the fourth, race after a hard drive. Bobby Allen scored his second success here when he won the sixth race ratljer easily. Nolle Yorke took the opening, dash with ease, while Pongee and Capt. Rees came from behind in the stretch to win their respective races. An excellent crowd turned out to witness the farewell day sport, ftrlly ten thousand, and the conditions were ideal. The meeting has been a huge success in every respect, greatly exceeding the expectations of the management, which made the announcement that the entire profits will be expended in improving Devonshire Park, so that it will be second to none in Canada. General Manager Bradley AAilson announces that extensive improvements have been planned to he made to the Devonshire plant before another racing season rolls around. At present the accommodations arc inadequate to handle the patronage, as was demonstrated on Labor Day, when 23,700 passed the turnstiles. Tho grandstand will bti enlarged considerably and a clubhouse erected south of the present stand. Two rows of concrete boxes will be built in the front of the main stand and the niutuel pavlllioii will, be extended to run behind the grandstand. G. II. Kcene served as the steward in the stand today, representing the horsemen. Judge Jos. A. Murphy will, leave tonisht for Cleveland,, Ohio, for a. , short visit previous to gdng to Toronto, where he will officiate at the Thoru-cliffc Park meetings. AAr. R. NorvelL left for Toronto last night, where ho will serve as racing secretary at the Dufferin Park meeting. He will also be one of the officials at the Thorncliffe Park gathering, as will J. F. Monk and AA. A. Hewitt, who acted as stewards at: this meeting. .7. AV. Seliorr will ship his stable from here to Kentucky. J. B. Dunn ships tonight to Havre de Grace. Jockey Remmert. who piloted his first winner, Nelle Yorke, today, will accompany the Dunn stable. Trainer J. Walters will ship the stable of George M. Hendrie from the AAindsor track to Woodbine Park. Toronto, parly next week. Several members of the string, including Rancher and Salvo, have been on the ailing list recently, but are now recovered. Jockey N. Buxton leaves tonight for New York. Jockeys A. Collins and McCoy go to Kentucky. E. Barnes, E. Fator and - Richcreek leave for Toronto, while F. Hunt and Heupel are destined for Havre de Grace. C. ;R. Daly, represented in the third race yes-.terday by First Pullet, claimed Trusty from Stuart Polk for ,400.
