HAVRE FEATURE TO BLAZES1 Captures South Atlantic Handicap After Duel with Blue Wrack Motor Cop an Easy Victor. HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., September 14. The South Atlantic Handicap, for three-year-olds at one mile, was the stellar attraction at the Harford County track today. Captain Ral Parr furnished the winner of it in his good colt Blazes. Only four started, Paul Jones and First Consul being withdrawn. The race was practically a -duel between Blazes and Blue Wrack. The former quickly rushed to the front on the first turn, closely followed by the Cuban-owned colt. It was a royal battle throughout, and not until the final strides was Blazes able to draw into a clear lead. Clear and warm weather brought out a crowd of large proportions. The track was in fine condition and the racing of good quality. The first two races of the afternoon were for two-year-olds, Sea Court, at long odds, accounting for the opener, while Serapis was returned tlie winner of the second. It was Motor Cop all the way in the third, the Ross racer proving too speedy even for the fast band opposed to him. A rousing, hard-fought finish marked the Tunning of the fiftli race, with Swirl, Padua and Martha Luckett crossing the wining line in the order mentioned only necks apart. Phedoden, the favorite, would have won but for racing wide in the stretch after holding a safe lead all the way. A petition signed by thirty-four of the prominent horsemen racing here was posted in the secretarys office this morning asking the association for adoption of the Kentucky claiming rule and the abolition of all selling races at the meeting. Three claims were lodged yesterday. N. S. Vail took War Winner out of the third race from J. L. Murphy for ,000 and paid ,2T0 for S. A. Clop-tons Franklin in the fifth race.
