MAJOR BELMONT SEEKS AID Wants Horsemen to Name Committee in Order That Selling Races Will Be Better Filled in the Future. NEW YORK, N. Y., September 11. President August Belmont of the Westchester Racing Asso jiation, on his arrival at the course yesterday afternoon, expressed regret that some -of the overnight races, particularly those with selling clauses, were not filling satisfactorily, and issued the following 1 statement: "The: Westchester management, while realizing that not much can be done at this meeting to change the progra.n, feels that a great deal is to be gained for its future guidance by securing tin opinions and co-operation of owners and trainers in framing a policy for the future. It would welcome suggestions which will produce more liberal entries, especially for the selling races.- During the first two days there was a shortage of horses due to the non-arrival of several stables from Saratoga, where there was an acute lack of cars. That condition does not exist any longer, and the management calls for frank expressions on the subject from horsemen. "Quite apart from this, the association has asked the trainers quartered at the course to select a standing committee of three to serve from year to year to represent them and be at all times prepared to bring grievances, whatever may be their nature, to the attention of the officers."
