LORD BRIGHTON, under restraiiit in the early running, was forced wide when entering the stretch, but closed, up steadily and, racing into the lead, won under restraint. SALVUSTRA followed AFTERNOON closely and, racing her into defeat, took tlie lead, but could not withstand the winner. AFTERNOON set a fast pace ami had no mishaps, but tired in the stretch. PADDY DEAR, under hard pressure, closed up gamely in the stretch and outstayed MARS MODSE. The latter set a good pace, but tired and swerved out in the .last quarter. LA RABLEE was 1.1st for thrde-quarters and came through the stretch with a belated rush. BALLET DANCER II. ran a good race and made a game finish. ARETHUSA also j-an well and finished close up. The latter was a prominent contender throughout and, although he swerved frequently, finished gamely. BROOM SPUN displayed the most early speed and tired in the last eighth.
