ST. AMANT, NOTABLE RACER, DEAD LONDON, England, September 14. The once famous race horse and fairly successful sire, St. Amant, by St. Fru.squin Lady Loverule, by Mun-caster, split a pastern while at exercise in one of the paddocks at the Southcourt Stud, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, a day or two ago, .and was destroyed. St. Amant was nineteen years old, and was a great three-year-old in 1904. In "that year he won some 25,000 and the Epsom Derby, Two Thousand Guineas and Jockey Club Stakes. In the Jockey Club Stakes St. Amant gave Polymelus, a high-class race horse himself, twelve pounds more than weight-for-nge, and beat him. St. Amant was only a moderate success as a sire, and lately had been standing at Southcourt at the moderate fee of 0.
