LAST SEASON AT SANTANDER Future Spanish Racing Will Be Held at San Sebastian and Madrid Only. In contrast with the brilliant success of the race meeting at Ostein! the races at Santander in Spain have been a failure this year. The annual zneetlmi at Santander had become a habit with Spanish Hieing men, but the isolated and inaccessible location of the place is too great a haudlcap to overcome and this will be the last year of racing there. Next years schedule of Spanish racing will have no gaps such as that which occurred in July of this year. The season will open in April at San Sebastian and the Madrid meeting will open immediately upon the close of racing at the seaside resort, to end on the last Sunday in June. San Sebastian will then reopen on July 2 with a long program of impressive stake events, coming to a climax in the great .100,000 stake and its 0,000 Consolation, open to the unplaced horses of the main event. Individually this big stake, to lie known as the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Alfonso XIII.. will be run over the mile and a half course instead of at a mile and five-eighths, as has been announced. The second meeting at San Sebastian will continue until the first Sunday in October. Every week there will be a ,000 stake event for horses of various ages in addition to the Criterium of 0,000. Then in the autumn will come the second Madrid meeting. It. certainly looks like a new boom for racing In Spain. Viator, n Le Jockey.
