BABY GRANDS GREAT SPEED Brings Victory for the Ross Stable in Blue Bonnets Main Race Another Big Crowd. MOXTREAL, Que., Sept. 5. J. K. L. Ross popular silks were carried to victory by Raby Grand in the mile handicap, which was offered as the feature attraction at Hluc Honncts this afternoon. He Avon in a driving finish from Star Realm, with Hetty J. third. Raby Grand was installed an odds-on choice despite the fact that he was carrying, the impost of 117 pounds. Grurieisen, who had the mount, sent him to the front with the rise of the barrier and, making all the pace, the son of Granite ran the distance in l:3S.Jf.. Star Realm bore out all through the stretch run and Parisian Diamond raced on the outside and lost considerable ground at the turn. The card offered this afternoon was productive of spirited racing and long-priced horses were returned winners in the majority of the dashes. An accident occurred during the running of the third nice, in which jockey Gantner, astride Ashlin, was crowded into the fence and suffered a bruised leg. lie was forced to cancel the remainder of his mounts during the afternoon. The winner turned up in Puff Hall. Overrun, while restless, was third. Overrun suffered from interference and was Wearing the winner down at the end. Threatening weather and light showers had tint little effect on the attendance, which crowded every inch of available space in the plant. The attendance was probably the biggest in the history of the club. Track conditions were all that could be desired, and the light rain served to lay the dust. The holiday attracted mnny notables in social and financial circles, the clubhouse, lawns and galleries being crowded. The running of the steeplechase resulted in a spectacular finish, with the three placed horses heads apart at the end. The winner turned up in McAdams, which lias raced with limited success on the smaller tracks, defeating Hihler, with Sea Sun third. The winner was neglected in speculation and rewarded his few backers with a large dividend. A head finish resulted in the running of the opening dash of the afternoon, in, which Push Tin defeated-Paddle, while Rrjntlibna was a" distant third. SAILOR. PLACED ON SCHOOLING LIST. Following his refusal to start from the barrier iu the fifth race Sailor has been placed on the school- 1 ing list by order of the stewards. George H. Hull, secretary of the Saratoga Racing Association, and a party of friends made the trip in his private car from Saratoga to witness the days racing. In the party were Mr. and Mrs. Erskine Wood, Frederick Alexandra and Theodore Knapp. Trainer W. A. McKinney was kicked by a horse while in the paddock and required medical attention. The injury was slight. The condition books for the coming meeting at Ottawa arrived today and were distributed by Joseph McLennan. The latter reports a steady demand for stabling room at that point. Eugene Lutz has taken over the horses that arc campaigned by G. R. Alien at this meeting. The stable will remain in Canada. H. G. Hedwell announced that the horses that D. Cowell had purchased at the Ross yearling; sale would bo shipped to Laurel, Md. I. Hammond will ship tiic horses in his charge to Toronto tonight, for racing at Dufferin Park. The stable .of C. Ruxton arrived from Devonshire this morning. Jockeys A. Gantner and M. Ruxton accompanied the shipment. M. X. Maefarlan arrived from Detroit and -will officiate as associate steward at the coming meeting at Connaught Park, Ottawa. Jockey C. Lang arrived from Windsor this morning and reported to trainer Hringloe of the Seagram stable. The latter has secured first call on the lads services for this meeting. H. 5. Hedwell and It. II. Carr were arrivals from Raltimore this morning to attend the yearling sale. Trainer A. V. Thomas was fined .5 by the stewards on Saturday for reporting Yowell late to the paddock for the first race. Jockey Earl Taylor, who was injured at Kenil-worth, will resume riding at the Woodbine fall meeting. Jockey F. Murphy was forced to cancel his engagements this afternoon, due to a slight attack of illness.
