STEEPLECHASE MAIN RACE Members tf Montreal Jockey Club Lease the Starters and See Fine Contest. MONTREAL, Que., September 9. A steeplechase Willi conditions which called for horses leased by members ot the Montreal .lockev Club was the carded attraction this afternoon at the Blue Bonnets course, and resulted in a spectacular contest in which Transpcro, ridden by O. Diamond, and rac-iug for Hugh Allan, was returned the winner from Hibler and Lieutenant Seas, while the only other starter, Deputy Vest, unseated his rider at the tenth fence. Lieutenant Seas and Deputy Vest were tho ones to cut out the early running, followed by Hibler, with the ultimate winner bringing up the rear. Going to the next to final fence, Lieutenant Seas hobbled, and this mishap cost him the race. The winner was well supported, despite the fact that Hibler was a pronounced choice. The card which was offered this afternoon was lacking in quality, but made up in quantity, and was productive of spirited racing. A dash fashioned for maiden three-year-olds and over, in which eight faced the starter, brought the graduation of Wrack Grass, with Thcedosia and Leipsic next. The winner was ridden by Roniunclli and, coming from behind, outstayed" Theodosia at the end. Sun Turret, one of the high-priced Ross yearlings at Saratoga, was installed the favorite and set a fast pace when the real racing came. The longest priced winner of the meeting came with the running of the fourth race, which was contested by platers under claiming conditions. Pinard; ridden by Lang, was returned the winner from Mess Kit and Plain Rill. The winner paid 0.33 for a .00 investment. Weather conditions were all that could be desired, and a large crowd for a Friday journeyed to the course. The track was at its best, and few scratches were posted during the afternoon. Harry OBrien departed from here for Havre do Grace to resume his duties in the secretarys office at that point. The stable of E. T. Zolliccffcr will be shipped to Ottawa to engage in racing at that point. The suspension against jockey G. Stack, incurred tit Kenilworth, was terminated at yesterdays meeting of the Canadian Racing Associations. Dr. F. W- Ashe today distributed condition books and stake blanks for the coining winter meeting at Havana. Cuba. The Bronkdale Stable, in charge of trainer M. Walker will be shipped to Connaught Tark tomorrow. Jockey .7. McTaggart will leave for his home in Baltimore tonight, for a brief visit previous to reporting to the Thorncliffe stable at Toronto. C. T. Fleishman ot New York, was a visitor today. He is on his way to Belmont Park to witness the running of the Futurity. Jockey Marinelli was suspended for two days by starter Morrissey, for disobedience at the post. G. W. Forman, N. S. Vail, S. N. Stelson and L. O. Sawyer will ship from here to Havre de J race ou Monday, to take part in the racing at that point. Silas Veitcli has sold the jumper Sea Sun to L. Reader, at private terms, the latter acting for an unidentified party. Senor 31. Echarte, a well-known Cuban bookmaker, was a visitor this afternoon from Saratoga.
