CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Jockey T. McCullough was indefinitely suspended for a poor ride in the fourth race at Willows Park, Vancouver, Saturday, September 17. J. Wittouck heads the list of winning owners at the important Ostcnd Belgium meeting, with 1,142, followed by L. Niguet, 2,295 and F. Brugmanu, 4,460. "John Bull" Bottomley, the English owner, was fifteenth with but 1921.sh,718. The cabled stories about the Duke of Portlands retirement from racing are only partially true. The duke is merely retrenching under the pressure of 50 per cent taxation and will still race. Eight of last years youngsters owned by the duke are in preparation for 1922 racing. Thirty-two horses in. training, comprising two, three and four-year-olds, bred at the farm of the late William K. Vanderbilt and not included in the sale to A. K. Macomber, are advertised for public sale in Paris September 27. A majority of the animals are sired by Maintenon, Seasick and Rabelais. At the recent big French meeting at Deauville, X. E. Ambatielos horses won 0,720 in stakes. Then followed Capt. J. D. Colin, 8,230; Marcel Boussac, 7,325; Baron Edouard de Rothschild, 0,045; James Ilcnnessy, 5,775; Leon Mantacheff, 5,380; Due Decazcs, 2,620. A. K. Macombcrs total was but ,350. 4
