ANOTHER "REFORM" MEASURE BEATEN NEW ORLEANS, La., Octoberl2. The Weinmann bill was given what probably will be its death blow by the house judiciary committee Wednesday after noon. The bill was reported unfavorably by a vote of five to four. There will bn no minority report, it is said. The bill was to prohibit the publication of racing odds and forecasts and the use of telephones and telegrams lu the dissemination of such news. This probably will end the- battle. The opposition in the committee was led by Thomas MeGighan, who contended it would help the bookmaker more than it would hinder him. The opponeuts stuck lo the old argument that federal action was the logical means for suppression of handbook betting.
