THEO, suddenly improved ami showing fine speed from the start, raced SAMMY K. into defeat and, rating into the lead, won going away. BOUNTIFUL was outrun for the first quarter and finished well when called on, but ran greatly below her best form. SAMMY K. set a great early pace, but tired in the stretch. WALNUT HALL set a good pace from the start and, saving ground on all the turns, hung on gamely when headed by BILL HUNLEY and, appearing beaten, got up again to win in the last few strides. BILL HUNLEY followed the leader closely and took the lead at the eighth post, but tired in the last sixteenth. LADY LILLIAN moved up rapidly when called on and was wearing the leaders down at the end. COMME CI was poorly ridden throughout the race. ATTORNEY MUIR had no mishaps. ALL FAIR was a forward contender all the way and stood a desperate drive all through the last eighth. SPANISH MAIZE, a big, lumbering colt, closed up fast on the outside when he got settled iu his stride and was going fast at the end. CALAMITY JANE set a fast pace, but tired and gave way iu the last sixteenth. CLANSMAN ran well to the stretch, but failed to stay the route. WESSIE 15. ran a good race. DAMASK, after being saved to the last turn, responded gamely when called on and outfinished BUNGA BUCK in the final drive. The latter was away well and raced in closest pursuit of the winner to the last eighth, but was tiring at the end. LUNETTA ran well, but just lasted to outstay BASTILLE. CAREFUL, displaying brilliant speed and setting a great pace, raced BILLY KELLY into defeat and withstood a challenge from CARMANDALE. but had to be hard ridden to out finish the fast-coming MINUTE MAN. The latter was cut off on the far turn when he tried to get through, but saved ground on the stretch turn and, finishing fast, was wearing the winner down. ARARAT ran well and outfinished BILLY KELLY. The latter is not at his best, and tired. CARMANDALE ran a fast half and was eased up when beaten. Scratched 58234 Pride of India, 92; 58286 Faunus, 93.
