, • CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The only daughter of Carbine left in New Zealand is Mongonui, which is twenty-five years old. Last year Mongonui foaled a filly to Rangitero. Richard Ryan, former steeplechase rider, who achieved considerable success some years ago and was at one time employed by J. C. Ferris, died at Buffalo Friday. The ChagTin Falls Jockey Club has announced dates for a twelve days spring meeting from May 22 to June 3, opening immediately after the close at Maple Heights. Trainer Max Hirsch has arrived at Havre de Grace with his own horses and the stable of G. W. Loft, including the steeplechasers Sweepment and llalu and the Preakness candidates Sidereal and Long Island. Hirsch also had in his charge Devastation and Finality, the property of S. Pettit.
