D. took the lead at once, saved ground on all the turns and, racing LOTTIE LORAINE into defeat in the first seven-eighths, outfinished TOPMAST in tbe final drive. The latter finished fast ami was wearing the winner down. GRISELDA began slowly, but closed a big gap and finished with a rush. LOTTIK LORAINE was speedy, but tired in the final drive. LORD GRANITE came fast on the outside of the leaders when entering the homestretch, but tired after making a threatening challenge. SOLDIER II. ran below his best form. CARMANDALE, suddenly and vastly improved, left the post with a rush and, racing into a long lead, set a fast pace and, saving ground on all the turns, won easing up. CHAMPLAIN was taken to the outside while rounding the far turn and ran out when entering the homestretch, then was taken to the inside in the last eighth and finished with a useless rush.
