CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The seven-year-oll horse Bombast, a son of Broomstick Xela, dropped dead in a race at Brighouse Park, B. C., on August 31. George Odom has taken over the horses of August Belmont. Messenger is in the string, but no attempt will be made to train him again this year. The largest crowd in . the history of Brig-house Park, Vancouver, B. C, witnessed the victory of G. Drumhellers Tulalip in the Brighouse Park Derby on August 30. Jockey H. Rowe was ruled off the turf at Brighouse Park, Vancouver, B. C, for grasping and holding on to the bridle of Miss Frauland in a race on August 31. Lack of cars for shipment of horses from Saratoga to Belmont Park delaped the arrival of horses intended as starters on the opening days program of the Westchester Racing Association. R. L. Gerrys Cyclops being one scratched from the Nursery Ran-dicap on that account. W. A. Carter will race a few horses in his own interest at Oriental Park next winter. He already has purchased from R. F. Carman the platers Quit and Brushwood. The yearlings he purchased at Saratoga, which were for a wealthy Cuban patron, have already been shipped to Cuba and Carter will leave for there himself In a couple of weeks.
