DEFEAT ANTIBETTING BILL TORONTO Ont March 2 Race track bet ¬ ting in Canada emerged victorious last night in the house of commons when the resolu ¬ tion by W C Good progressive member for Brant was defeated by a vote of 96 to 75 The Good resolution would have suppressed public betting on race courses now legalized by specific provision of the Canadian law lawIn In urging the bill Mr Good read from data supplied by the attorney generals depart ¬ ment to show that profits on some of the Canadian race courses ran as high as 1000 per cent on the investment He quoted many practical farmers as declaring that the breed ¬ ing of thoroughbreds did not depend for its success on racing or race track tamblinc
