NEW YORK RACING DATES Metropolitan Jockey Club Jamaica May 2 to May 23 19 days daysWestchester Westchester Racing Association Belmont Park May 24 to June 14 19 days daysQueens Queens County Jockey Club Aqueduct June 15 to July C 19 days daysEmpire Empire City Racing Association Empire City Yonkers July 7 to July 28 19 days daysSaratoga Saratoga Association Saratoga Springs August 1 to August 31 27 days daysWestchester Westchester Racing Association Belmont Park September 1 to September 1513 days daysQueens Queens County Jockey Club Aqueduct September 17 to October 1 13 days daysMetropolitan Metropolitan Jockey Club Jamaica October 2 to October 16 13 days daysEmpire Empire City Racing Assn Empire City Yonkers October 17 to October 31 12 days NEW YORK N Y March 8 The New York racing season of 1923 will open at the Jamaica course of the Metropolitan Jockey Club on Wednesday May 2 The stewards of the Jockey Club meeting at the offices of the organization this afternoon assigned dates totaling 155 racing days for the five tracks operating under its jurisdiction In addition to these dates the United Hunts Racing Association was assigned two days for its regu ¬ lar meetings meetingsThe The United Hunts Racing Association was granted permission to race two days in the spring This meeting will precede the opening of the regular season with racing April 30 and May 1 Although no announcement has been made as to the location of the meeting it is thought possible that the association will race at Belmont Park the scene of a oneday meeting last election day daySaturdays Saturdays and holidays were fairly divided among the various associations in assigning the spring dates but Belmont Park has an advantage over the other tracks in this respect in the autumn In the spring Jamaica has three Saturdays Belmont Park three Saturdays and Decoration Day Aqueduct three Saturdays and the Fourth of July and Empire City four Saturdays SaturdaysSaratoga Saratoga which runs all through the month of August as usual has four Saturdays In the fall Belmont Park has three Saturdays and Labor Day while all of the other tracks have to be content with two Saturdays each eachChairman Chairman August Belmont presided at the meeting of the stewards The following ether stewards were in attendance F K Sturgis J E Widener J E Davis J E Cowdiii and William Woodward WoodwardThe The remainder of the business transacted by the stewards was of a routine nature except for the action taken in regard to the amendment to the claiming rule proposed by J E Davis This was referred to a committee of the stewards for further consideration
