ST. LOUIS RACING PROSPECTS Judge Murphy Believes Time Is Near When Sport Will Be Revived in Mound City. BOWIE Md.. April 12— Joseph A. Murphy will leave Sunday night for his home in St. Louis. "I have been so busy the past year that I have neglected the St. Louis situation, where a splendid organization of the best people awaits my lead for the resumption of racing, and where the united press is receptive to a demonstration that racing can be conducted on clean lines. If we can keep every cheap promoter from crowding in on us. the moment there is a ray of light we can put racing over in St. Louis. Oral betting is not an offense under the laws of Missouri. We shall proceed on these lines, complete our organization and race under the present laws. The election of Senator I teed, particularly in the face of the opposition in his own party, shows that the people of our state are tired of repression. "A new governor will sit over the next legislature. Unless all signs fail that governor will be drawn from the liberal element of the victorious party. "With an organization that is unassailable and having demonstrated that racing can be | conducted on absolutely dean lines we will be in a position to ask anything in reason from the legislature." Judge Murphy declined to discuss the Chicago situation. He will proceed later on to preside at Maple Heights and Thorncliffe.
