PF.RCH. away forwardly. took the lead quickly and raced JACK FOUNTAIN into defeat, then drew away after entering the stretch, but had to hi- hard ridden in the final sixteenth to withstand the tush of PEERLESS ONK. The latter, after beginning poorly, closed a big gap and was best. JACK FOUNTAIN tired after forcing the pace to the last eighth. COBALT was prominent to the lust eighth, where he gave way. MR.
