COUSSELL. LONDON, England. April 16. — George Wat- son has long enjoyed in England, as well as j the Ignited States, a high reputation as a shrewd, careful and most successful importer of hunters, polo ponies, show horses and trotters. Recently Mr. Watson decided to include a few thoroughbreds in his next consignment to New York. These were all safely shipped on Jhe S. S. "Mississippi" on April 14. The shipment comprises five brood n.ares, six maiden fillies, three geldings, which have all shown form, and the well-bred stallion Athdara. The last-named is a good-looking son of Desmond, the sire of the successful sire Atheling II. Athdara won four races, including the Newmarket Autumn Stakes. He revealed himself as up to classic form as a three-year-old when he ran third to Gay Crusader and Magpie in the Two Thousand Guineas of 1917. He was racing and winning in 1921. His owner for a long time could not decide as to the future of the horse. Last year he leased him to a friend in France for that season only. He proved sure with his mares. Such a well-bred horse with the credentials of Athdara is worth a chance at the stud. His dam, Lady Jess, has bred four winners. She is by Ayrshire from Ardmore. a daughter of Gallinule. She was full sister to Rock-dove, winner of the Cesarewitch. The brood mares are as follows : MAKES IX CONSIGNMENT.
