TALL TIMBER AGAIN 4 Scores His Fourth Straight Victory in the Rennert Handicap. » Chickvale in Another Easy Triumph — Showy and Deep Thought in Thrilling Duel. ♦ BALTIMORE. Md., May 9.— The Maryland Jockey Club offered as the main attraction at Pimlico an old fixture, which in recent years has been run as an overnight race, in the Rennert Handicap, once more a stake feature with ,000 added. The decision of this race at three-quarters of a mile further confirmed the high quality of II. T. Wilsons three-year-old colt. Tall Timber. The son of Campfire was an added starter and immediately attracted the support of the public, going to the post an outstanding favorite. He won in commanding style by five lengths and in fast time, considering the slow condition of the track. Butwell had the mount on the Watson colt and swerved him in close pursuit of the pacemaker. Heeltaps, in the early running When called on Tall Timber easily passed the pacemaker and. drawing clear was only cantering the remainder of the way. Incidentally it was the fourth straight victory of the year lor Tall Timber and his performances have been so impressive that there is no doubt that he will attract strong support for both the Ireakness and Derby, at least from Maryland racegoers who have witnessed the colt in action. Heeltaps was second, but barely saved second money frsom H. P. Whitneys Flagstaff, which is a slow beginner and will show to better advantage at a long distance. MEBF THOUGHT UNLUCKY. The half mile of the Pikesville Purse, the fifth on the card, provided a thrilling contest in which Showy carrying the colors of T. Clyde outlasted A. EL Morris Deep Thought. The first mentioned led all the way, while Deep Thought closed a big gap from a slow beginning and only failed by a small margin of overtaking the leaders and. 1 ut for Hags blocking him when Kummer attempted to go through on the stretch, might have won. EL P. Whitneys Chickvale came back with a good performance in taking the Arandel Purse, at one mile and a sixteenth and though he had but a half length advantage at the end, could have won further off, had McAlee so desired. J. E. Davis Vulcain filly Relentless was an odds-on choice in the opener and made good in a manner that left no room for doubt. Warrenton was second and Brush All finished third. The popular silks of the Glen Riddle Farm Stable, the owner of Man o War. were carried to victory in the steeplechase by Rocking Horse. The latter, however, was lucky. as Cavendish practically had the race won when he fell. Le Marsouin was also up close when he fell. Old War Mask ran a sparkling race to account for the mile and an eighth contest, the third on the program, beating Biff Bang by a half length, while Brilliance was third. The latter set the pace from the start and for a time it appeared as if the Cosden ■tartar, under her light weight, might triumph. However, he tired after going seven-eighths and left Biff Bang and War Mask to tight it out, with the above-mentioned result. ♦
