LOUISVILLE OPENING DAY ♦ Clark Handicap and Debutante Stakes the Inaugural Features. ■ ♦ All Best Handicap Horses In West Among Probable Starters in First Mentioned — Allotment of Weights. ♦ LOUISVILLE. Ky., May 9.— The decks arc cleared at Churchill Downs for the opening of what promises to be the greatest meeting ever held in Kentucky. Resident manager Vennie said the finishing touches would be put on this week and that then he would announce that every modern convenience for both racing patron and horseman will have been accomplished at Churchill Downs. The features for the opening days racing will be the Clark Handicap, 0,000 added, for three-year-olds and over, and the Debutante Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, $.~ ,;00 added. The field in the Clark Handicap will include many of the best thoroughbred horses in the country. While the entry box will not be opened until Friday the weights have been assigned and those which probably will accept may be named as follows : Lady-Madcap. Whiskaway, Sweetheart, Dr. Clark, Best Pal, Black Servant, Rockminister. Fair Phantom, Firebrand, Bon Homme, Prince K., Bo McMillan, Minto II.. Audacious, In Me-moriam and several others. The Debutante Stakes closed with 142 nominations. The distance is four and a half furlongs. The field may include such promising misses as W. E. Applegates New Beauty, Desha Breckinridges Saucy Susie, Brownell Combs Golden Sun, the J. S. Cosden entry, Yankee Princess. Leona Dare and Seastake : R. C. Frakes Pretty Politician, Gallaher Bros.
