Ont., May 16.— There promises be a surplus of horses for the races at Woodbine and Tborncliffe. All the stabling room at these tracks have been spoken for and the Dufferin Park accommodations are also taxed to the limit. A nine car horse train arrived today from Pimlico. The Ontario Jockey Club meeting will begin on Saturday at Woodbine with the first race at 2 :30 p. m.. and the Kings Plate scheduled for four oclock. The track was sloppy at Woodbine today and the horses worked in the center of the track. The three Seagram Platers, Flowerful, Pelf and Floralia worked together and finished in bunch, going the full Plate distance in :23. the first half in 54, three-quarters in :21%, mile in 1 :51%. It looks as if all three will start on Saturday. J. C. Fletchers Plater Cheekako, with jockey Abel up. worked the mile and a quarter in 2:20l4. the first half in 54, mile in :51%. Uptown raced with the Plater from the head of the stretch to the eighth post, where Algonquin was supposed to join in. The latter, however, began ten lengths in front of the Plater and was no use in the trial. Cheekako did not look as he liked to run on a heavy track, e will be hard to beat over a fast track, however, and many expert horsemen select him to win. The Thorncliffe Stable Platers Trail Blazer and Ocean Crest made their first appearance at Woodbine today. If good looks count for anything they should be overwhelming favorites Saturday, as they are the best looking Platers at the track. They were galloped a mile and a half at a slow pace and are evidently ready and fit for the big race. Other works today were as follows : Three-eighths — Pastoral Swain, 37%; Creybourne. 38%: Assyrian Queen, 39%; Corenzio, 4J; Camouflage. 37%; Superlative, 38; Mexican Pete, 39; Chiouitn. 39.
