COSTLY FILLY MAKES GOOD LONDON, England, May 16.— Mumtaz Mahal, two-year-old gray daughter of The Te-trarch and Lady Josephine, for which the Aga Khan paid 5,50 at the Newmarket yearling pales last year, won the Spring Stake:; at .Newmarket today under hard restraint. She- covered the five-eighths in 5S, setting a new record for the Newmarket course. Mumtaz Mahal was one of the yearlings consigned to the sales last year by Lady Sykes, proprietor of the Sledmere Stud. She brought the highest price of any yearling sold in England last year.
