LAUREL RACING NEWS , La Drole, winner of the first race, was claimed by Sam Louis for ?2,000. Blue Hawk changed hands after his victory en Saturday. He was claimed by T. W. Scars for ,000. The Harry Payne Whitney filly, Miss Whisk, is said to have come out of her race on Saturday slightly lame. Jockey Smallwood was forced to cancel his engagements today. The lad was taken sick yesterday and is confined in one of the Washington hospitals. . The racers Shuffle Along, Spot Cash, Vigil, Untidy, Cherry Pie and Enchantment were arrivals from Latonia. Jockeys Marinelli, J. Callahan and E. Kummer also came back from the Kentucky course. Charles F. Hill has announced a sale to be held in the paddock at Laurel the closing week of the meeting. A division of the Green-tree Stable and of Mrs. F. Ambrose Clark and J. E. Davis stables will be disposed of at this sale. Steeplechase jockey J. Pierce, who had the mount on Sea Bryn in the jumping race this afternoon, suffered a broken collarbone and a slight concussion as a result of his fall from that racer. He was taken from the track to the Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore. Jockey J. Butwell, after an absence since the early days of the Havre de Grace meeting, put in an appearance this afternoon. But-well has been confined to his home suffering from torn ligaments of the ankle, which he broke at one ime.
