ZEY BETTER THAN MY OWN Is Belief of Jockey Earl Sande, Who Says American Colt Will Beat Papyrus Oct. 20. LATONIA, Ky., Oct 8. Jockey Earl Sande, who rode Knobbie in the 0,000 Kentucky Special and who will ride Zev at Belmont Park October 20, departed for New York Sunday afternoon. Before leaving Cincinnati he expressed his belief that Zev would be victorious when he meets Papyrus. He also held the conviction that Zev was a better colt than My Own. "Zev has too much early speed for My Own," said Sande. "In a long race it would enable Zev to get a commanding advantage early and frequent breathing spells, while My Own would be forced hard to keep in striking distance." Sande is also firmly convinced that Zev can run any distance. Commenting on Untidys performance against the two colts in respective starts and the comparison seeming to favor My Own, Sande unburdened himself as follows: "On the occasion that Zev beat Untidy in the Lawrence Realization Stakes Zev was not in form for a long race and only went a quarter of a mile at his utmost top speed. In the belief that the race would be -run at a later date trainer Hildreth did not keep the colt to a high pitch and its advanced running from the date expected found Zev not in fettle to go a long distance. It was necessary for that reason to save him during the running as much as possible, and Untidy as a result was able to keep close up." Asked what he thought of Papyrus, Sande said: "Ive have had no opportunity to judge .of him, excepting when he was galloping slowly. He seems to handle himself like a good colt." Sande is confident that trainer Hildreth will send Zev to Latonia following his race with Papyrus to fill his engagement in the rich Latonia Championship Stakes.
